Suspended ceiling fixings options

    Hi

Anyone knowledgeable on the different metal fixings for suspended ceilings for under precast slabs?

My blocklayer mentioned there is a system with a wing-nut for adjusting height

Is drilling the precast slabs (solid slab not hollowcore) or nailing with a hilti gun the best option?

Planning to do my self so the easiest method preferably.

Last question; would the windows have to be in to do the suspended ceiling framing? (Roof would be on) The only reason I ask this is windows probably won’t be in until October and hopefully have roof completed by end July

    Thanks

The proper fixings are 6x40mm dbz ceiling anchors. These need to be pre-drilled and then hammered in.
Do not shoot hangers...even the best guns on the market will break away the concrete and the hanger won't properly take the weight.
The perimeter channel can be shot on using a hilti gun (current box of nails for this gun is approaching €200 a box!!).
Windows do not need to be in - it's nice when they are especially in the middle of January when it's blowing a gale outside!!

    Hi thanks for the reply

Hoping to go at this next week

    Dropping ceiling approx 150mm

Dbz hangers and perimeter channel what are the other items required?

Is there a main channel that would run down the centre of the room that a cross pieces from either side connect into?

    Thanks

    Eoin

If you are doing a plasterboard ceiling and you are putting a metal framing in the hang the plasterboard you will need the following
Have a look at the Gypsum casoline system(MF). This will give you the full range of materials you will need. Also you will have an installation guide.
Definately use DBZ fixings and rigid hangers.
This is my husbands advice as he is a ceiling fixer/contractor.

    Perimeter channel goes around walls.
    Hanging angle dropped from slab.
Laser level to cut off hangers at top of perimeter channel.
Carrier bar attached to hangers with double screws and attached to perimeter channel.
Top hat screwed underneath at 16 inch centres.

Fair play to you tackling it with no experience.

    Hi just planning .
For the mf ceiling before blocks go down .
What size is the frame and plasterboard ?
So if leaving 150mm void is 200mm enough to allow for frame also.

You can leave what ever void you want. The minimum you can realistically go is approx 80mm leaving practically no void. A 150mm void would be fairly standard if you had a waste pipe (110mm) with a fall on it.

Is Mvhr planned ? If so leave yourself enough for duct & conduit to cross.
