Lost/stolen phone query

    Hi folks

My Moto g4 phone lost, possibly stolen on Friday night

According to “find my device” it says it last synced with google at 11-51 pm Friday night.

I realized the phone was missing about 30 mins later and rang it and it was turned off and has been off since.

I know it certainly wasn’t running low on battery when it went missing so I’m pretty certain that someone turned it off...hence I suspect it’s been stolen.

My query is does anyone know is there a way to get google find my device to alert you if the phone is turned on?

I know you can remotely lock the phone etc but obviously it needs to be turned on and connected to a network for that to happen. So ideally I would like an update to say phone is now on, then I can remotely lock it.

Thanks in advance for any advice.

You could check it every hour?

Did you drop it down a toilet and it lost power?

Nope. I got a taxi around the time it last synced.

My suspicion is I left it there in the taxi or possibly it fell out of pocket in the street but either way someone turned it off.

It was around 60% power at the time.

No signs of life from this since last Friday night.

Does anyone know if “last synced” means that the phone was turned off at that time?

Find my device will locate it eventually. If someone resets your phone and then installs their own gmail account onto it you can still track your phone... A message comes up on the drop down menu on your stolen phone so the person using the phone will know the device has been located. Keep checking .... Someone somewhere will eventually put a google account onto it. You can work from there.

Only if they don't know what they're doing. This is one area where Apple have done a much better job.
