After years of driving bangers we are going to buy a new family car. We are looking at the Seat Arona. Did a test drive and seems a lovely car.

With a scrappage deal we should get it for around 21k.

Any advice or warnings from the experts here?

Did you have a look at the Kona/stonic/karoq?

The Karoq is an awful lot more expensive.

The karoq is too big and expensive. Is there something wrong with the Arona?

I’ve been looking at the Arona as well. Mostly likely won’t buy until January. It seems to have much better reviews on the U.K. websites than the kona etc

One of the higher spec models I assume ... FR and xcellence are 23k

Not that I know of. Gets good reviews. I was just suggesting alternatives to look at.

The one we were looking at was SE spec. I am not sure what the extras were.
    18k does seem cheap though.
The dealer showed me the price list in a brochure. It could be an old price?
    Should I ring other dealers?

S spec is 17,995, SE is 21,175, add metallic paint, delivery charges and a few extras and you’d be at 23k I suppose. Also depends on what engine you chose. The Seat website has a configurator thing if you want to double check list price for your spec.

Do you mean diesel v petrol?
I reckon we will go petrol. I think its a 1 litre TSI.

Actually just checked and they only make petrol. I never scrolled further down because I always select the 1 litre TSI. The choice is manual or automatic gearbox. Automatic is more expensive.

Sycamore Tree, can I ask did you go ahead with the Arona and if so, how did you find it? I'm considering one at the minute.

Sycamore or Marn02, I too am considering one. Did either of you go for one in the end? any thoughts?

I did. I went for the 1 litre xc+, it's a great wee nippy car. I'm very happy with it.

would any one have thoughts on a diesel v petrol one of these?

I'm not sure what to opt for. I've had a diesel 1.6 saloon but someone drove into the back of it recently forcing me into a replacement.

    I'm looking at a 2018/2019Arona 1.6 Diesel 115bhp or 1.0tsi 115HP.

Looking to keep it 4-5 years and perhaps change to electric if the affordability / supply improve.

I drive on average about 50-60km daily 5 days per week and then the odd week night + weekends some longer trips.

Its mostly motorway & suburban traffic.

I'm driving a temporary Petrol 1.2 Corsa which I seem to be filling a lot!!

Suppose I'm just wondering would the newer petrol engines be worth switching back to and more future proof?

50-60km a day isn't big mileage, I'd be happy to do that in a petrol. My sister also has a 1.2 Corsa, it's a weak engine so she has to floor it to get anywhere and even then the car doesn't feel like it's moving. Very thirsty, she's constantly putting petrol into it.

The Arona isn't a big car, it shouldn't be too bad on petrol. The 1.0 TSI is around for 5 years old now and is in absolutely everything across VW, Skoda, Seat and Audi. It shouldn't give you much trouble.
