Appealing riam exam result

Hi has anyone ever gone through this process? A student of mine failed his grade 8 by 3 marks. Scales were the lowest marks. All other students got results back with marking on scales tougher than usual. I'm wondering if it's worthwhile trying as he worked really hard and deserved to at least pass..
