    Hi all,

I will be selling my house in the next few months and the free to air sat. is on the blink. I can get RTE 1/2 and C4. It was an old SKY dish with a Ferguson COmbi box and the other little aerial that goes with it. I don't really want to fork out for a replacement. Is it costly to repair or does anyone even do repairs? It did go on the blink before and a handy friend fixed it with sealant. He's not around so much at the moment, so looking at all options.

If you can get RTE and C4 then both the terrestrial and satellite tuners must be working to some extent. Have you tried retuning? Or reflashing the box with latest code?

If you can get a single channel via satellite then it's not broken and there are hundreds more of them. Clearly this is all a confused mess. Are you picking up Channel 4 as a terrestrial signal - ie are you near the NI border or getting something from Wales?

Thanks, everyone for replies. I was getting all the channels, and then only some with a 'no signal' sign coming up on BBC etc. I am in Dublin so the signal should be okay I think. I'm not sure how to reflash the box, but I do have the manual so will give it a shot. I think the last time it went, my friend checked the sealing on the thingie ( I know nothing about these!). I suppose my question is, are these things generally repairable or not? It seems I can buy the whole new one for €300 or so, and I'm wondering am I wasting my time trying to fix something that needs replacing? Given I'm selling the house, and whoever gets it may not want Free to air, it is a consideration.
