I have vague memories of a 90s quiz show on RTE. The only thing I remember about it is that it required the contestant to go into a sound proof booth and put on headphones while the other contestant answered questions.

    Anyone remember what this is?

rings a bell but not a clue I am afraid, it may help if you could name the presenter

Could have been Secrets, presented by Jerry Ryan. More of a game show than a quiz.

It wasn't Secrets and I can't remember the presenter.

Was it Talkabout by any chance?

Yes but can't remember the name either. Saturday evening. Alan Hughes tv3 was the presenter. 2 Contestants in teams.
Edit. Checked Wikipedia and he comes up for Talk About. He hosted it for 3 yrs.
    Would this be the show?

Ian Dempsey presented it as well a few years before.
