I'd be wary of bringing in dung with the grass to ensile. The result won't be good.

Is it in patches of the field or generally all over the field?

Ours caked on some ground after first cut, and was completely covering up big areas of regrowth.
Tine narrowed the fields and shattered the dung.. grass there flying now thankfully.
I was also stunned with the amount of thatch and badly mowed clumps that were pulled out. Really opened the award and I'm only sorry that I didn't do it in Spring...diaried for next year

I'd be more inclined towards baling after a good wilt than putting it in a pit, tbh. Any dirt going in will be localised rather that spread through a pit so less waste.

Trailing shoe is the business for slurry imo.
This was spread 5 days ago with slurry. Barely see it today.
