Immersion problem

    I changed a three setting immersion switch (15,30 and 60 min) to a seven say programmable switch. The LCD display would not work and the water did not heat. So I put the old one back and and it doesn't work now wither. The output light lit on both of them. I got as far as pushing the reset button on immersion (heard no click) and still no hot water. The immersion temperature gauge does click when being turned up and down. My immersion sits outside the hot water tank. Initially I thought my new 7 day programmable was faulty but not I think it's something else. Any ideas much appreciated.

    Wiring mixup? I'd revisit that first.

    I took a photo of how it was before removing the old one and it was
    N in - Blue
    L in - Brown
    L out - Red
    N out - Black
    And I've checked I put it back the same.
    I'll check again for a loose one and see how I get on.

    I would say red and black is your power in. And brown and blue is your power out.
    Reason being the red and black is old wiring colours. So they have been there first.

    Thanks I checked the wiring got the old one working. So with that under my belt I decided to try the new one again, after about three attempts no joy. I then swapped the red and black as suggested and still no joy so I put the old one back in and no red light. Check fuse box and find blown one and replace and old one working again. New one being sent back - thanks you Amazon I love your returns policy - and while I'm sure I learnt a few things along the way I was never so glad to be back where I started with the old one working :-)

    Do you still have old type screw in fuses?


    If so just pointing out you should be looking at upgrading the fusebox when finances allow. Old type fuses aren't considered safe anymore

    I knew the fuse box has been superseded long since and wasn't aware they not considered safe. Do you have any idea on price?
