I am guessing that should be UE48J5100ak which I don't think has any smart features except the ability to play from a usb.

Your best bet would to buy something that will plug into a hdmi.
This could be a chromecast, apple tv, roku, amazon fire, games console etc.
Any of these would give your TV smart features.

What exactly do you want to do on the TV?

Netflix mostly..

If you have an android phone eg. Samsung I would suggest getting a Chromecast. You use your phone to select Netflix and then tell it to play on the tv, using the phone as a remote.

Another option is Roku, This gives you a remote, that you would use, like when you are using a dvd player.

If you have a playsation or x-box, these will generally be able to play netflix.

If you have a laptop with hdmi, you can plug that directly into the tv.

I have a chromecast, and am very pleased with it.

If you are in the apple ecosystem, especially if you have bought a lot of stuff off itunes. The apple TV works best then.

Is Chromecast basically shown what's on ure phone..do notifications on ure phone show on d tv

When you use the Netflix / youtube app on your phone, you can "cast" the show to the chromecast.
This sends a link to the chromecast, which then goes on the internet and plays the show / movie. If you turn off the phone / walk away the chromecast will still play. So no notifications.

If you want you can "mirror" your phone to the chromecast (a little more complicated). In this case your phone screen will appear on the TV, notifications and all.

No network port and no built-in wi-fi pretty much says that it is not a Smart TV.

The Samsung wi-fi dongle won't make it so. It might give you the ability to download new firmware but that will be the height of it, it's not worth buying.
