Monitor calibration

    Well lads, can anyone recommend a decent monitor calibration service / place I can rent something like a Spyder for a couple of hours to calibrate my monitor?

    Pricing one online comes up a bit more than I can afford at the moment.

    Monitor calibration changes under different lighting, so making sure you calibrate it where you're going to use it is a good idea.
    If you use a laptop in several locations, it's a good idea to have a separate profile for each.

    Monitor calibration is not something you do once, but you have to re-calibrate it regularly. So even if there is a place that would do a rental (never heard of such a place), it would become very uneconomical for you in a very short time. Do you have a friend with whom you could split the cost and then swap it every week or so?

    If you end up buying, ColorMunki is pretty good value.
    It's what I use.
    When I was working professionally, I used i1 gear, and it was "da bomb." Great stuff.
    Near zero paper waste due to incorrect color-matching to the screens.

    ColorMunki might be a good option for you. Same parent company, I think. (X-Rite, pretty much the kings of color control.. every densitometer I've ever used was an X-Rite, whether I was working with Noritsu, Fujifilm gear for film and wet process paper)
