So I’ve been getting twitchy and have to make a purchase soon, I’m very tempted with the Omega Ploprof 2009 reissue on a mesh bracelet
Anyone here have one and if so what do you think of it ?

    Thanks in advance

1745 Euro saving on this 2015 one.

I have never owned one; but have seen one in the flesh. Not my taste to be honest with you. Also I consider the Planet Ocean with the 8900 movement to be better than the 8500 used in the Ploprof. The Baby Ploprof on the other hand is a work of art; and highly collectible.
Lovely one for sale in Holland for 3.3K Euro:

The case shape reminds me of the Seiko x Giugiaro 7a28-7000 (Ripley/Alien watch). Which I don't like either.

If you like vintage divers I would propose the Doxa 300t as an alternative iconic piece.

Quite a big watch I believe, would want to see it in the flesh

I had one. Short lived, the novelty wore off pretty quick and it was a hulk to wear . Steel mesh added alot of weight I found the orange rubber was much easier.

I have seen the watch and tried it on in New York recently and I quite liked the size of it, I’m not of small stature being 6 foot 4 and it’s something different
The one in watch finder isn’t a saving it’s just used price vs new retail price, sourcing the watch isn’t a problem I have a contact that has one for £3k with 2 years omega warranty.
Someone mentioned a planet ocean movement being better, that kind of thing wouldn’t bother me tbh I have a xxl planet already, I’m just looking at this as it’s something you don’t see too often innthe wild

Anyone that has or has had one let me know your opinion on it, many thanks

If in doubt, consult Archie. The Pontiff knows.

Would you normally wear a large watch anyway or was this a big jump up ? They have a newer titanium model out but I have a couple of titanium buts already

I worn that and larger, the br01 94 was a bigger watch but it was not as heavy.
I worn 44 and above but the Size , shape and weight was cumbersom,
I think it looked ok but lets say it wasn't the most inconspicuous.

I wouldn’t take any review from Paul pluta seriously he’s a 34 stone man and was wearing a 34mm watch, it’s a comedy channel and that’s all.
+1000. The blustering fool with the taste and class bypass act is so good it's clearly method. I would take pretty much nothing he had to say as good advice.

I like the Ploprof myself, though in fairness I do tend towards unique to the point of WTF quirky in my tastes. :o:) The 70's being ground zero for that kinda thing. Which I like. Mostly because since the post "quartz crisis" mechanical revival the big names, especially the Swiss have run with what they see as "tasteful" and "authentic". With few enough exceptions pushing the boat out and design is very much a secondary consideration. There are exceptions. I mean I personally think Hublot's output are horrid looking yokes aimed at the rhinestone encrusted Lambo SUV crowd, but at least they are different and current.

If I was in the market for one I'd probably be looking at the vintage examples. That said it's been a while since I looked at the prices of them and they've likely gone utterly nuts and the time for getting on the ground floor has long passed. The Hodinkee effect and such.

Rejoice in the awareness of feeling stupid, for that’s how you end up learning new things. If you’re not aware you’re stupid, you probably are.

Omega ploprof is very cool. But you know you would rarely wear it. If you an ox of a man it might not look too big but otherwise its really a "out there" piece.
