Rearing pigs

    Hello all.
Been reading a few threads here and I'd just like to say that the info given in replies is fantastic, fair play.
I have a farm that is being rented out but kept 3 acres for doing something myself. I've decided to start growing vegetables for myself on the acres.
I was thinking of getting a pig or two to help root the land to get it ready for planting.
I'd also be keeping the pig's as pets for want if a better word.
I don't have the foggiest about pigs and was wondering if people could give me some info with regards what bread would be best for required need and what red tape surrounds the area of pig ownership.

    Thanks in advance,
    Dave

No great amount of red tape, need shed for a sick piggy, good electric fence and dept will check before issuing herd no.
Get pig with teeth clipped, alot safer to work with. I really like the Gloucester old spot but they may not be best for digging. They're really nice animals and brilliant escape artists.dont feed barley if you don't like fat. Best of luck.

I recently got my first 2 pigs. I got 2 Tamworths. The area i fenced off is 20mx 10m. It was grass about waist high when i put them in after about 2 weeks they had it stripped bare and half has been rooted up about a foot deep maybe more the other half is where they do there business and they dont seem to root up there.
