I won't lie to you but you but you got very little chance of getting into an accounting firm - 2.1 degree is usually the base minimum requirement.

I think dont college is an option for me this far into acca.had looked at accounting technician ireland course before acca and students seem to be given work experience along the course plus the exams seemed alot easier so am questioning my decision in choosing acca.

    Why would you say that?

Having the F levels of ACCA done is surely just as good as a degree, if not better.

But other applicants will have a degree.

But other applicants will have a degree.

And not half as many exemptions as OP has exams done.

There's firms that will take people with Arts degrees or general business degrees, that have no real basis in Accounting.

In my own case, I did commerce and had 3/5 CAP1 exemptions (I think something like 4 ACCA exemptions) and had no problems getting a job.

Are you honestly saying that somebody like me is a better candidate for a basic entry level trainee job than somebody who has all of the F levels and no degree?

Add to this the fact that the professional exams are a completely different ball game to college where the lecturer can give hints on what will come up.

In my experience this isn’t the case.

The firm I work for has taken on many people over the years in which their background was either coming from a degree and starting ACCA with up to 9 exemptions or others whom have done ACCA from the start and are mid way or even others whom would have started their ACCA exams with the firm.

It is a Dublin based firm.

OP, have you looked at getting in contact with a recruiter? Maybe using LinkedIn?

I have tried some recruiters but I think most want 6 months experience atleast.have yet to use LinkedIn.I have mainly been ringing local accountancy practices with mixed results.

I'm surprised at that. My understanding is that it's very tough for businesses to get trainees. Maybe not the top 10, but surely you'd have a chance with the smaller practices?

Might be worth considering working for free to gain some experience

Getting a job in Dublin should not be that difficult, only the cost of living would be the worry for you. What are the recruiters saying? I would suggest you to mail shot at least 3 recruiters a day! That should be the target.
Have you approached professional Help for CV preparation and LinkedIn profiles!

Mmm that's the way to go in my opinion. All the best to you.
