I spotted Bamboo for sale in pots this morning in Dunnes Stores for 25 Euro

I have a location in mind in the garden for one. What soil conditions/orientation do they like?

I could also put it in a pot, but would it require a huge pot?

    Probably best avoided.

"Phyllostachys are attractive, large, evergreen bamboos with running rhizomes, although in cool temperate climates may initially behave like clump-forming genera."

Would obvs be OK in a massive pot, but maybe instead pick something that's definitely clumping.

I'd also add you have to keep these well away from ponds with a liner because they'll puncture it and septic tank systems because they will block up the percolation area pipes.
