I moved to a new phone -One Plus 5 T (same network - eir) and since then on my home pc whatsapp web constantly disconnects. I would type a message but it wont go through. Usually it will connect a few minutes later, or I can open whatsapp on my phone and it will connect soon after.

Still it drives me nuts - I miss messages or mine dont get sent till way later - being out of context on a group chat sometimes.

Can anyone suggest what I can do to try to fix this?

Have you tried signing out and back in again or even reinstalling WhatsApp?

    What browser are you using?

Are you using the site (web.whatsapp.com), or can you try the Windows App? ( https://www.whatsapp.com/download/ )

Could be a firewall / antivirus rule blocking connections.

Using chrome but tried the app and the same thing.

It's just my home pc - I use a vpn but no av bar windows

    How can I test this?

Sounds like WhatsApp is going to sleep on your Android. Make sure that android is not allowed to optimise WhatsApp under battery optimization. Remove the app from the 'apps to optimise' list, or deselect the app, whichever the setting is on the one plus 5T.

Yeah I tried that already, it set not to optimise.

Will have to do this. What's the best/easiest way to do it considering I have a massive amount of photos and video etc?

Its still being optimized, there can be a few places where you need to protect it.

For my LeEco I had to enter the service menu, disable background resource control and reboot. The setting is probably the same on OneP but will have its own dialer code.

Is there other optimization going on under another setting? It definitely sounds like the app is going to sleep.

Edit: ed E got there first.

Ok thanks I'm not sure I understand that fully - how do I find out how to do it on a Oneplus 5T?

Any other settings I should check?

It can be your wifi too. When my phone goes into sleep mode it turns the wifi on every 5 minutes to check for notifications but other than that wifi is turned off.

I thought WiFi going to sleep too but Zascar mentioned being on Eir, so presume it happens on WiFi and/or when on 3G/4G?

Ok I think Wifi must be the problem. I turned the wifi off and it has not disconnected since. Makes sense why I dont have the problem in work as I dont use wifi there, only at home.

How do I stop the wifi turning off?

Edit: I just checked the settings and it's set to "Keep wifi on during sleep: Always" - so not sure what else to check

Might be one of the Google services going to sleep that turns the WiFi off? Android system perhaps? What about disabling battery optimization for all apps and see if that works? Then you know it's an app or service at least. Then by process of elimination work out which one is causing WiFi to sleep.

Did you get this sorted Zascar?

Not really. Only short term solution is I disconnect the wifi and it seems to work ok. At least I now what the problems is now so I need to do more research on the oneplus forums to see what the issue is...
