I have a macbook 12 retina with a damaged unibody and screen, all of the internal components still work fine.

I have found someone selling exactly what I need, a unibody with screen (and also happens to have the battery) for a reasonable price.

Now I have been looking up some ifixit guides and anything else that would show me the internal layout of both macbooks but I cannot come to a conclusion whether or not the internal layout would be compatible with eachother.

If anyone knows anything about these having cross compatibility let me know as I will be travelling to dublin next week which also would give me a chance to pick up the replacement macbook without needing to arrange postage and sorts.

    Thanks.

When you say screen what do you mean, the glass or the LCD/LED panel, the entire top half of the laptop?

Be aware some of the macbook's glass needs a heat gun to take off and you will never get it back on without leaving glue residue on the underside of the glass.

The LCD panel is usually compatible. The rest I'm not sure about.

I have an entire macbook already and I am basically buying a complete other macbook just without the logic board so as far as swapping the screen goes I am just going to be changing the entire top assembly from the hinges (screen and shell etc)

The place where I just feel like im going to have a problem is in the bottom half where they changed (only very very slightly) one connector that connects the usb type c. It still has the same plug in the end but it just has changed in shape abit.

I wouldn't know, try a mac specific forum if someone doesn't come back to you with an answer here. Louis Rossman has a tech support discord group where they would definitely know.

Do you know where I would find an invite to this discord, I had a look around but I can't find it

There are a few apple experts in there that might be able to help.
