Im working a job that's split into guaranteed hours and zero hours relief, the first part I'm very happy with and want to keep, the other part, and by far the bigger earner, I'm considering moving on from...
I've checked my contract of employment regarding notice, and it said refer to the statutory notices section on the govt website... I'm still a bit wooly over it... Anyone had experience of terminating their zero hour contracts... I'd appreciate your input... Thanks...

    Just so I understand:

You have one work contract. It says you will be guaranteed X amount of hours per week, but you must be available for excess hours, which could be 0 - Y.

    Am I understanding correctly?

And you don't want to quit the job, you want to just stop doing the excess hours (0 - Y) part?

    @ OMM 0000...
sorry, I couldn't hi light your text...
I have an alotted number of hours on a perminant part time contract (which I want to keep) and a large number of hours on a zero hour relief contract (which I really feel I can't properly serve for a multitude of reasons)...and this is with the one employer...

I would simply talk to your employer about this. Get them to agree to you keeping the part-time hours contract, and end the zero hours contract.

The statutory notice is 1 week.
