Came home from town and found a bird in my kitchen fluttering up against the window.all the windows in the house were closed so how did it get in to the house ?? I think it was a lark. Could it have come down the chimney.kinda creepy, any ideas ?

Just open the door and windows and walk away. Bird will be gone in 10 mins.

    Chimney I would say.

Happened here before open the doors and windows and it should fly out

Yes chimney. In a house where there was a solid fuel stove, I opened the door of the stove one summer day and a starling flew out. He was lucky as at another house there were several bird skeletons.

And yes, they are fast to go out of the door..

Yes, chimney. We had two starlings come down our chimney and flew round our sitting room one morning, despite the fact we have a chimney guard on top of our chimney.
Plenty of fledglings around at this time of the year, they’re small enough and inexperienced enough to fall down the chimney.

If you have a closed solid fuel stove, kind to leave the door open ? Thank you
