    Hi, I’ve a husky and hes about 4 and a half. Someone rang the property management and then they rang my landlord about my dog. I unfortunately need to give him up asap. I’ve asked multiple rescues across dublin if they would take him and they’ve said no. I don’t know what to do as I dont want him to be put down. I just emailed the <snip> 10 minutes ago so i hope they will take him.. does anyone have any other suggestions? He’s good with children, adults and other dogs. Quite shy. Never had any health problems etc. thanks

    Why did you get a dog if you knew your landlord wouldn’t allow dogs? Talk to your landlord and try and reason with him/ her? Offer an additional deposit etc? Sometimes this works

    Why not consider moving to another property with your dog? I would move rather than rehoming my dog tbh.

    Rescue centers are bursting at the seams with dogs to rehome .. did u contact Andy Cullen in <snip>

    Why would you put the dog down? I mean seriously??

    My landlord doesn’t live in ireland and has multiple properties across the country so she never comes and visits. The rental contract doesn’t state that we can’t have dogs.
    I have 3 kids im not risking getting evicted and becoming homeless. Not a lot of properties available for renting right now and the ones that are up for renting are too expensive. I don’t want to put the dog down. He doesn’t deserve that. No dog does. But if I can’t rehome him, the only option I have is bringing him to the pound in castleknock. <snip> is already overflowing with huskies so I cant bring him there. Im still waiting for <snip> to get back to me so I hope theres still a chance for him to be rehomed.

    Have you asked the rescue centers that have said no to place your dog on their Facebook page with photo - noting a private rehoming ? Lots of rescue centers do this.

    If you bring him to Ashton pound there is a huge possibility he will be Pts it’s one of the worse pounds in the country.

    Why not try and negotiate with your landlord st least? Email her / make direct contact ? If you don’t try you don’t know. Show her there’s no damage and offer an additional deposit

    I’ve tried persuading her to let me keep it but she said she wants it gone before next sunday. Its so sad because hes so quiet and isn’t destructive at all. He’s so sweet. I’ll try contacting the rescues on facebook for private rehoming. Im just scared that the dog will end up with someone who isn’t suitable.

    Why would he end up with someone not suitable if you ask rescue centers to post on their pages?

    Don’t just hand him over - do the following at least

    Do a home check
    Tell any perspective new owner you’ll need regular updates
    Ask for ID proof of address

    Call your vet and ask them do they know if anyone looking to rehome a dog ..

    Contact the following rescue centers (if not already)
    <snip>
    <snip>
    <snip>
    <snip>
    <snip>
    <snip>

    Google them you’ll find their details

    I think life as a guard dog is worth looking into for the animal.
    Bus yards, breakers / scrap yards have guard dogs. They are loose a lot of the time, better than being pts

    Personally I think huskies should be pulling sleds across snow and not living in peoples gardens, cute and cuddly at first...

    Jesus swept lads... I can understand a new poster not realising there's a rule about not posting rescue names here on-thread and writing a rescue name once or twice... But lists of rescues?
    I'm sorry op, due to the above rule, I have to delete all mention of specific rescues.
    If anyone needs to refer the op to a specific rescue, as per the above rule, do so by pm please.
    Thanks,
    DBB

    OP, I'm going to close this thread now until you can explain to me, by pm, how you've got 3 kids, yet you've just completed 5th year in secondary school.
    I'm prepared to accept that there's a logical explanation, but in the meantime, thread closed.
    Thanks,
    DBB
