Better off with sheets of marine ply, have a look in the local recycling centre plenty thrown out of building sites.

    No! Pure waste of time.
Tis either replace rotten timbers with douglas fir or put steel floor on it. Anything else would be a waste of time

    Larch, MuckIt?
    +1

Larch planks with spacing between or go all the way with chequered aluminium plate.

Steel floor, do it once and right, no messing around with expansion joints etc

If you can get some old carpet to put on top it’s a great job of moving wrapped bales

Ok will look for the larch...the phenolic resin (basically plastic covered mdf from what i csn mske out) 8 x 4 sheets would be an easier job, those sheets come in at approx 60e each, so 5 would suffice, anyone used them? Ta

Your looking at 600 plus to cover the same area in larch then put the price of fixings on top and you may be as well put the trailer on done deal and upgrade what you have.

I wouldn't touch them resin boards, I've seen plenty of ifor Williams trailers with the board gone and replaced with checker plate.
Get steel 3mm checker plate weld them in. No messing with bolts, Tek screws etc

I would agree but go to 4 or 5mm steel. I was doing a 13 × 7 gillespie last year and the diffetence in price of 4 mm and 5mm steel was less than €60. It is a lifetime job now.

Would larch planks be a better job than the sheets of Buffalo board for the floor of an Ifor Williams 10x5'6 flatbed? Would it need to be planed for a trailer floor?

I'd say it would do the job alright

I wouldn’t worry about planing it. It’s going to get scuffed anyway. You’ll get your timber in 1/4” sizes rough and you can work out what your spacing is. But I wouldn’t put anything less than 1 1/4 or you’ll be wasting your time.
