Some type of chaffer beetle?

Hi, checking to see if someone could confirm my suspicion that this is some kind of chaffer beetle.

It is a lot smaller than the cockchaffers I see around my house each year and doesn't appear to have the frills on the antenna so I'm not sure if it's just a different type or something completely different.

Last week there were thousands of them hovering around the garden pairing off, some have taken a liking to my wisteria and are devouring the leaves.

thanks for any help as ever
