Whats with all the bloody midweek gigs?

Am i using rose rinted glasses or were music gigs and comedy shows reserved for weekend nights back in the day?

Whats worse is that the ad for the gig will give you the date MINUS the day of it so that the lazy among us(my hand up) may accidentally book it.

Do the audience have more money(and time) than sense?

    Thanks for reading

Everyone in the country lives on the quays in Dublin so it's easy to stroll over to 3Arena, BGE, Vicar St, Olympia...etc and in bed by midnight in time for a good nights sleep before work in Google, Facebook and so on in the morning.

    Stop complaining.

I am being glib of course OP.

It is frustrating for those who then need to take time off to attend.

I suppose you could blame it on weekend events such as festivals and one day events and I'm not talking just about Ireland here, fests like Primavera, Glasto (Although not happening this year), Rock Werchter and Electric Picnic get some of the big headliners which take up available weekend slots. Ireland only has so many festivals so will have to make do sometimes with midweek slots as the European festivals have snapped up the possible weekend gigs here.

If you want to get into it, you got to get out of it. (Hawkwind 1982)

If a band is doing a european tour it's difficult to only play weekends, would take ages to get to everywhere

Cake, and grief counseling, will be available at the conclusion of the test

Might be my youth showing but I can't say I ever remember gigs being mainly weekend affairs. Midweek gigs were always a thing for me.

It's far cheaper for the promoters to get the locations midweek. (3 Arena etc)
