Maternity benefit tax rebate

    Hi all.

My wife has been receiving maternity benefit since the end of December 2017.

Her employer does not top this up.

I have had my wifes tax credit transferred to me as she only works part time and because my wife is claiming maternity benefit, i have had my tax credit reduced dramatically because of this.

I read recently that i may be due a tax refund from overpaying tax due to the maternity benefit reducing my tax credit.

Is this true? If so, can someone explain it to me. Many thanks.
