    Hi,

I wish to list on my website each surname in the 1901/1911 censuses plus the break down for this surname based on religion. For example:

    Woulfe
    1901
    Catholic, 100.0%
    1911
    Catholic, 99.4475138121547%

    Wray
    1901
    Presbyterian, 51.474926253687315%, Anglican, 35.693215339233035%, Catholic, 6.784660766961652%
    1911
    Presbyterian, 45.62146892655367%, Anglican, 36.29943502824859%, Catholic, 11.299435028248588%, Methodist, 3.531073446327684%

    Wright
    1901
    Anglican, 38.58902575587906%, Presbyterian, 29.27211646136618%, Catholic, 20.716685330347147%, Methodist, 3.986562150055991%
    1911
    Anglican, 40.07532122286221%, Presbyterian, 29.441736818786%, Catholic, 20.22596366858662%, Methodist, 3.522374833850243%

So this is the list of religions that I define for these purposes:

    Anglican
    Baptist
    Brethren
    Catholic
    Christian
    Christian Brethren
    Church of Christ
    Congregationalist
    Independent
    Jewish
    Methodist
    Moravian
    None / Not Given
    Original Secession
    Presbyterian
    Unitarian
    Quaker

Is this a reasonable list and are any of these religions which are pretty much the same thing? Am I missing any obvious ones? As you can see Jewish is included as it is common among certain surnames.

The tricky thing for me is that there are so many ways of defining the same religion and even more ways of spelling it. I have therefore had to map, for example, "R C" to Catholic. Below are the mappings I am using. The mappings for the main religions are not shown since they are huge? Do the mappings for the smaller religions seem correct in your opinion?

    Thanks,
    Barry
