    Hi

I'm looking for a recommended Saorview/Freesat installer. Moving into a new build in July/August in North County Dublin. If people can PM me a recommended installer they have used in the past I would appreciate it.

Also if you have any tips on what I should look out for i.e. the combo box model being used etc?

    Thanks.

Maybe describe what you require from the set up?

    How many TV points?

What about other devices like laptops, tablets, phones etc? Do you want to provide TV access to those devices also?

    Recordings? Central or individual?

Is new build wired with coax cable?
Is new build wired with ethernet cable?
Are these cables coming from each room back to one central location (media press)?

Lots of info needed before meaningful suggestions can be made ...... else have a long thread with all the questions being asked one by one. ;)

Buy a TV with Freesat built in, with Saorview as well, and smart and it will cover most requirements that you will want.

Use wireless for smart TV, forget about Cat5/6 cable runs, old technology,

CT100 cabling for sat/saorview reception, two runs per room, will cover most requirements.

Multi switch in comms area, Attic, with all cable back to that location.

    Just my suggestions.

Far from old technology, wireless will never replace cable - it'll supplement it and become acceptable for more and more things but it'll never be better.

If you're going to be running cables anyway there's no reason not to run a Cat6A cable along with coax to any TV point, the cost difference is negligible compared to not running it.

    All,

Wired my house 8 year's ago with CAT5 to all rooms, and coaxial cable with multi switch, HDMI cabling to certain rooms. But never used CAT5 cabling as wifi does all requirements, with smart TV's, Mag Box etc, just my point of view.
Yes CAT5/6 is cheap now and would be no harm installing, but bet it will never be used.

I stripped out all the coax going to all rooms in my house (there for decades) and installed ethernet cable to each room and now all live TV, internet and stored media is delivered to all rooms on request over the LAN ..... and even to mobile devices such as tablets, phones laptops etc. via wireless (which is not ideal for live HD/UHD TV).
The TV is mainly satellite and saorview with 7+ days EPG for all channels, in one listing.
