    Hi.

I've noticed in garden centers that they sell for example bags of Multi Purpose Compost in liters and do no show the weight in kg. Bags of grass seed are shown in kg but not liters. Why is this? Surely a better system would be to show both liters and kg.

    Thanks.

Compost weight varies depending on water content, so they use volume because it's a more stable measure.

Grass seed settles so the volume varies, but it's dry so they use kg, also because application area is calculated in grams/sqm.

Hi Lumen. Ah, so the water content is key. Thanks.
