Getting a new car in a couple of weeks so looking to offload my present 06 Subaru Forester 2.5XT. Very few dealers will take as a trade in and some offered €1k in main dealers but I imagine this is just them playing with the list price rather than having a home for the Subaru.

It's NCT was up in Jan this year.
    No tax
Runs and drives fine but has some issues.
    Front windows don't work
    Needs new exhaust pipes.

Is it worth selling online or what other options would I have to shift it? Anybifea what it's worth if priced to sell?

    High tax
    Petrol
    No nct
    No tax
    Has a number of issues

No mention of miles, servicing or consumables

I can't see it making more than a few hundred. More hassle than it's worth to sell privately.

I had a friend sell a short taxed Legacy 2006 2.5 Auto Leather for 500 to a Polish chap, who said nice car- wrong country for this car.
I wouldn't think yours would be worth over 300.

Traded similar model in 2013, main dealer allowed €3k, but he knew someone who wanted one. At this stage I'd take the grand.

    125m/200k
Service log book empty the last few years as serviced by company mechanics.

If it's more hassle than it's worth would a scrap yard offer anything for it does anyone reckon?

They'll pay by the ton. I'd think about €125.

    That makes me sick.
Pity there's no market going back that way instead of us taking it all in from the UK.

Absolutely nothing unless you sort the problems first and even then you will find it extremely difficult to sell.

OP take the €1000 from the dealer or stick it on donedeal for €1000 and expect offers less than that.

I'm buying a Legacy/Forester in the next few months to have as a winter car, I wouldn't buy yours even for €1000 with the problems you listed as I can get a Legacy with zero issues for that price. I'd want to be getting yours for less than €500 to allow for the repairs to be done.

    It's yours for €499.99 so.. :)

Any dealer offering you €1000 for it was probably adding €700 on to the price of what you were buying. That car is effectively worthless other than scrap value.

    So to sum up

    €150-200 scrap
    Or
€1k online and take whatever offered
    Or
Trade in to be done with it.

I'm no dreamer about it's value, just wanted the best solution for making a few quid on it.

What did you end up doing?

What did you end up doing?

Sold it for €300 to a friend of a friend type thing.
Avoided the donedeal tyre kicking brigade which was the most important thing.
