When you buy credit using the Esb payg card, do you have to key in the voucher number or is rhe credit sent automatically to the meter.

    Hi subaru,

Thank you for getting in touch.

This depends on the type of PAYG meter. If it was fitted prior to October 2015, it is necessary to key the code in.

If the meter is an Electric Ireland Smarter PAYG meter, which launched in October 2015, the code is automatically sent to the meter without the customer needing to key the numbers in. The older meters have continued to be fitted since October 2015 also though.

Here is a general guide to Electric Ireland PAYG electricity.

If you have any other questions, please let us know.

    Best regards,
    Una
