Since the limo and other breed societies questioned the benefit of whrp the icbf website is gone into overdrive communicating on benefits of whrp...me thinks there must be concern around how many of the circa 350 limo breeders they will lose

Had to google what whrp means.....it's a radio station in Alabama:pac:

They haven't been bombarding me with emails anyway, it must be just ped breeders?
I went to the trouble of printing off a herd report to sort out cows for bulls last night, then I noticed some of the ebi's were wrong. The Jan report is what I printed, the May one can't be printed off in numerical order. Maybe it's just me or has anyone else noticed this? I was printing the pdf thing(black and white) not the coloured one.

We’re in the WHPR & I think we should remain.
I agree with the Society’s that the Stars are all over the place and it’s affecting allot of stock.

I think we need a good 10 years of data recording & the BDGS should be changed from having star rated stock to recording of info (Weights, scoring etc).
The dairy figures were built on physical data & I think more is needed for the beef side

Ya, exactly. Emphasis should be on collecting data and bonuses then for using high indexed bulls.

Hopefully some of the arrogance from icbf towards pedigree societies might ease. Agree the stars are still a mess even for the high reliability if I take kya on angus they are only really used on dairy herd are recommended for scheme. Generally kya are poor cattle and not suited for suckler as they are nutters ...ironically kya is now being kept for pedigree usage but he should be banned from pedigree

Early days yet Patsy, a lot of that info could be just converted from french proofs.

His sire only had 205 births recorded and was born in 2006, I'd have stock bulls with more recorded births than that. Makes me wonder why?

The sire was an imported bull.
Bull hurt his shoulder later and couldn't serve

I agree that he is only in the test phase, but it shows where the values could be going in the future.

Yes but is it going to be like the miles per gallon figures for new cars. They mean absolutely nothing in the real world because of the nature of the test.

That herd does a lot of weight recordings. Look at the MGS Buron for that test bull, nearly 300 calves and high reliability in his numbers and he was a french imported stock bull
