When a solicitor is going at snail pace..

    I am involved in a property transfer with some deadlines imposed by the bank (deadlines that have been extended already). It's with the other parties solicitor who has been given clear instructions to forward signed document to my solicitor. If the time lapses it will create more expense/delays etc...

    Anything that can be done to stoke some sense of urgency?

    If your issue is with the other party's solicitor there is very little you can do. They either went with the cheapest of the cheap and they're too busy or they're deliberately stringing it out at the behest of the vendors.

    The only thing you can do is threaten to pull out if you have a back up plan in place.

    Are contracts signed by both parities? Is this a home purchase?

    NB Only intending to provide practical advice here having been dicked about on my own purchase.

    It's property + mortgage transfer into my sole name we are divorced but we reached an agreement and only had to involve solicitors because it was required by bank ...

    Seems like stuff being requested 1 thing at a time. Every time i think "It's almost done there seems to be something else.. Latest "declaration of family home protection act" whatever that is...

    Sound like [a] cheap solicitor(s) has been involved. Unfortunately the cheaper they are the slower they are in many cases as they get inundated with work. Can you get your ex to apply pressure their side?

    Are we talking about a solicitor acting for your ex, or a solicitor acting for the bank?
