Excel 2010 - Saving automatically as .xlsx

Hi everyone! When I create a new file in Excel 2010 and then save, it automatically saves as .xls, whereas I want to save as .xlsx Is there a way to get it to automatically save as .xlsx? Obviously I can select xlsx every time, but there must be a quicker way?

File > Options > Save Workbooks > Save > Save files in this format

See change the default file format for saving workbooks for further details.
