    Hi all!

Can anyone give me a their view on big or small weddings? ( about 180 people being big to me! ) Not too sure on what myself and my partner would prefer I suppose it will all come down to cost. Also is there much difference on going abroad to get married?

    Thanks.

It all depends what kind of wedding you're after. We wanted a non-traditional type wedding, nothing too formal and also wanted a smaller wedding. We ended up with 60 at the wedding and after dinner, it kind of turned into a big party which is exactly what we wanted. Even with the smaller number, I don't think I got to talk properly to everyone (although I may have spent too much time on the dance floor) - for me, 180 seems like you'd have no time to enjoy yourself as you're running around talking to everyone....but that's just a personal opinion.

As for weddings abroad - my brother got married in Spain about 6 years ago. It was incredible and probably cost half the amount it would have for the same things in Ireland. Definitely think it drives down the cost for the wedding but obviously ups the cost for the guests

    We're having 100 people.
For us it's the perfect amount to allow us to enjoy the day.
We had to make some pretty ruthless decisions with the guestlist but so be it

Maybe just take into consideration that although a wedding abroad can be much cheaper for the couple it is very expensive for the guests

We had 100 which was perfect for us as didn't want a huge wedding. Weddings can really cost as little or much as you want. One of our friends wanted low key + reception was in restaurant+ bar afterwards+ was one of best weddings ever! Going abroad only really saves you money if your numbers are much smaller like 30-40. We were considering going abroad but got married during the recession + didn't think it would be fair on some of our family + friends at the time when money was tight for some people.

I spoke with my other half and we decided to stay here and get married, the cost that all the guests would be paying for hotels/flights etc we just thought it's expensive enough so decided to stay here to do it
