    Hi All,
Looking for a bit of advice on a fly rod,
I used to do a good bit of fishing but haven’t done anything in the last 10 years or so,
I still have most of my gear but my fly rods have disappeared,
Looking for recommendations on a rod will mostly be fishing the Corrib or Lough Derg.

I used to use a 10ft 7/8 rod so something along them lines I assume would be best?

    Thanks

I haven’t a clue which is best but I envy your quest. I reckon for 200 euro you will get a great rod, the only advice I can think of is to get your hand on it first.
I love looking at all the gorgeous ads that the rod makers put out but who knows which one is right for you.
I got a Wychwood truefly t2 6 weight for about 80 euro at the fishing show in swords in February. It’s still in the plastic. I was hoping to use it last weekend but didn’t get a chance. I’m waiting for the rain. My favorite rod is an Abu Garcia which is as cheap as it gets.
I’m settling down to watch lots of angling docs on YouTube. Let us know how you get on. Don’t buy before you try! At least inside the shop.

Maybe I’m wrong here but all rods over 100 euro are pretty great these days. Maybe whether the rod is a fast action or medium action is probably more important to you, especially if you are casting distance all day? Medium would be better no?

I haven’t a clue, best to ask in a couple of shops. For me I’d be looking at last years model, getting prices online and then trying to get a fifty percent discount from a shop trying to move old stock. That way you can get a 300 euro rod for half price. Like golf clubs, rod manufacturers want you to change.
You know you won’t be able to stop at one rod and of course you will have to get that new drag reel for 200 bucks too!
