Holiday August weekend

    Obviously have left it late due to work issues but would like to head away Friday or Saturday August 3-4 for a week ... I know it's the August weekend and peak season but where is the best place to look for a deal ... would like to have gone to France but that's probably unrealistic now ??
    Any tips or thoughts ?

    if you check skyscanner, you can fly into various airports in Netherlands or Germany for 115 return (or fly into one, do a road trip, and out of another). To fly to anywhere in France(aside from Ryanair to "Paris") or Italy its over double that.

    Theres no end of places to go, Bruges, Ghent, Düsseldorf, Cologne, Hamburg or some regional cities or towns in between. If you got a deal on car hire then you can just drive to any suburban hotel that has deals (and the likes of Novotel can offer savage value in the summer as theres no business travellers)

    Weatherwise..... better than Ireland if not way beyond better than Ireland. I'm sitting in the office now in Munich with the fan on, blowing 27degrees air in the window, and its only the first week of June. My biggest problem (aside from a spurious bug in the software that I'm looking to fix) is whether I now go to the beergarden for lunch or not.

    But, if you literally only want to go to a resort and install and do nothing at all in 40+ degrees heat, surrounded with hoardes of sunburned tourists (my idea of torture in every aspect, but anyhow) , sorry, no idea how to get such a thing on a bank holiday weekend at a half ways normal cost.

    Slovakia is nice not too expensive yet.
