Putting in a new farmyard behind a new house. Thinking of 5000 square ft for the yard. Would that be about right. Need a 4 span shed on it plus room for handling etc. Would 5000 square ft be big enough?

You'll need a bit more detail than that if you're hoping to get useful replies.

A 4 bay slatted shed with a 10' run back wilĺ be about 1800 sq feet add in 500 for a crush and gather/ loading area. You will need an area for silage and parking bits and pieces.

Would you not plan out the farmyard when going for planning for the shed - even if the proposed shed is planning exempt you need to draw it up and apply for a section 5 exemption. It would be easy enough then to plan out the farmyard around it.

Don't build it near a new house. Build it away from a new house. Maybe it might suit better in the middle of the farm.
