    Hi All

I am planning a three week trip later in the year, Prob December. My puppy will be 12 months when I go, is it okay to leave her for three weeks in a kennel?have left her with family and friends for a few days at a time a few times and she seemed fine. Has anyone recommendations that can PM me of places they used that they were completely happy with? Based in East South East of country

since its december (winter), and assuming shes an indoor dog, it might be worth your while to look at people who board your dog in their home... rather outdoors in runs etc. Good to be looking for a solution now as with December/Christmas places might not be open/full!
(I could recommend my indoor boarding place, but its in Co Kildare...)

We use a kennels in Courtown, our dogs love it and we are happy with the care they get while they are there. They are all kept indoors at night and have a good amount of time in big runs every day. If you want details let me know.

    Check www.housemydog.com

Long stays seem to be about €15-18/night

You can read reviews of the various minders and you should find one locally.

Vet fees and insurance are covered. - We've used them several times for our two.

Thanks all, yeah really good point about wanting my pup to be kept in doors at night, she sleeps in my room and loves human company so a minder in their house would be best. Is that an option for such a long period of time, do people provide a service whereby the dog stays in the house with them rather than kennels?
I would be much more comfortable with that than locked outside in a shed alone.

That's exactly what housemydog.com does, usually its other dog owners. Just contact some of them and see what they say.

Maybe do a couple of single nights or a weekend or two before leaving your dog for 3 weeks. It gets the dog used to the minder.

I'm in totally different part of the country, its like airbnb - read the descriptions and reviews and pick one you think will suit.

I live in Co Kildare - near Naas. There are many people that keep boarding dogs in their homes. Its becoming more and more common - rather than in kennels outdoors/in runs. Ask at your local vets, groomers, pet shops etc. Do some googling - you'll find someone who boards dogs in their homes, to suit your dog.

My dog is going to a minder in Wexford for just over two weeks in July, they keep the dogs in the house with them. She's been for a "test run" for a weekend already as she's quite a nervous dog from an abusive background and I didn't want to just fire her in cold turkey for such a long stay and she got on absolutely fine. PM me if you want the name.

    Hi there,

Yes this sounds good. Could you pm me the details, I will do a trial run to see how she gets on.

    Thanks
