Hoping the adverse publicity will make the car rental company back off. Akin to threatening to "ring joe".

    They're friends of mine :D
Nice couple get Fecked over by car rental company who have a habit of doing same.
It's not headline news... but it'll maybe stop others using a shoddy and disreputable company

A lot of these rental outlets are franchises, so your experience can vary from location to location.

I would say employees get rewarded for noticing that cars are damaged; perhaps penalised for missing it. So this guy knew the car he sent out had damage that he missed previously and was going to recoup the cost from this couple.

    The talk to Joe brigade.

It's bad form what happened to them but ffs why run to a national newspaper with that and what's worse the paper printed it.

That’s attempted theft in my book.

Just an inkling, but I reckon that pic was taken at the wedding, as opposed to their car damage media interview.

    How will it work?

They have gone to a national paper over £90 ,do you think the company is going to give a toss about some Irish paper writing about them.
They already have a crap reputation so I doubt this will sway them.

It was a Facebook post that a local newspaper picked up on...as you should know, local news media will feed the nationals with human interest stories, this has all taken place in the last 2 weeks, Indo actually late to the party

But they still gave an interview to the national paper.

They let the national use their local interview. Nothing wrong with that is there

An Irish man is today outraged that Libero's Takeaway never delivered his chipper last night.

Dublin-based Elton Fitzmaurice, 39, placed the order via the popular Just Eat app at 20:23, but the delivery never arrived.

Fitzmaurice claims to have "repeatedly" called the restaurant, only to be told on each occasion that his dinner was en route.

"It's a joke," he told The Independent. "This country is buggered to bits."

The Independent can exclusively reveal that this is the fourth time since November 2001 that the Ballinteer-based takeaway has failed on one of its deliveries.

On one occasion, the victim was a female

Seventeen years ago, Patricia Sweeney of Dundrum received no dinner one night after Libero's reneged on its informal promise to feed her and her six daughter's.

    Unacceptable

"I rang and rang and rang but our tea never arrived," she said to Lance Molloy, The Independent's Chief Correspondent for rogue takeaways.

A spokesman for Libero's said that it is treating the incidents with the "utmost importances" and vowed to get to the root of the issue.

On a slightly side issue, its a warning to take out your own insurance when hiring a car. Nearly every company will have different levels of cover, each once propably as bambozzeling as the other, some more than doubleing the original advertised cost/hire, and will probably still leave you with excess to pay in any event.

Last time I hired, took zero cover from the company, took out my own, about a tenner a day, with zero excess applied (hire company would still apply the excess, fully refunded by the insurance).
