Sheep worrying insurance

Insurance up for renewal soon. I have worrying included, but it’s adding €400 a year to policy for up to 200 sheep. Touch wood have never claimed, but makes me wonder if it’s worth it. I think it only covers in a first loss basis. Everyone else have worrying included in their policies ?

Depends where you live, we don't insure as it's unlikely to happen, but I've had a problem twice, got compensated once and never found the offender the second time.
It's very expensive insurance though, only costs €60 to insure 600 sheep against theft

I have sheep worrying, livestock on foot, livestock in transit and public liability for less than 500 total.

    150-200 ewes

Exactly catch the owner and make them pay. Insurance will only pay out against proveable costs anyway. 200quid buys plenty of penicillin

I know it’s like how long is a piece of string, but how much damage does the average worry cause ? 1-2 sheep or would it be 30-40 sheep ? Over a few years of €400 you’d see it adding up. It’s sad really, one year of €15-20k worrying cover costs the same as a few million of public liability cover

Have worrying on the policy but it only adds around €140 iirc with FBD..... have it down to cover a % of number of sheep in the flock because realistically it’s highly unlikely all the sheep will be worried in one attack.... but land is fragmented.

Thing is, if you underinsured, (they asked me how many sheep and what value) in the event of a claim, I thing they’ll only pay a % of the loss ?

Everyone’s situation differs....I know roughly from year to year how many sheep I would have together in one place at different times of the year .... never all together.

Where are you getting the 15-20k cost?

Sorry Ganmo, the stocking goes up and down throughout the year, 150 to 200 sheep at €100 a head.
