Vag Tacho needed

    Hi all
I am reaching out in desperation here. My 02 VW Bora had a valet key only, got a new key cut and tried to swap the transponder chip into it. The previous owner had "fixed" the key at some point to stop it coming apart and used superglue.

result is the chip broke taking it out.

Would anyone around the Dundalk area have a working Vac Tacho that could reprogram the new key fob for a reasonable fee?

I overspent this week cos I have american visitors so going to the main dealer is not an option. plus i need to run them back to airport on sunday so am getting desperate.

    Please help fellow boardies

There are plenty of in call vans that can do that for you at non main dealer prices. I’m in Kildare so can’t help out but if u look online I’m sure u could get one to call to the house. All the need is the new key and the car to code it

I googled a few of those vans last night, was surprised cos i never heard of them before. Great tip Bmw. in the meantime i kept experimenting on my own using a cheap cable from ebay. I never got it working with vag tacho or VCDS. but I found a program called K-can which had several versions. I used 2.5 and managed to reprogram the key myself.
Just wanted to update the thread for future boardies who may search for similar.

Thanks for the help and if anyone in Dundalk needs help in the future pm me.
