EWI - alu or glass reinforced concrete sill?

    Can anyone tell me if there's a significant advantage to a glass reinforced concrete window oversill over the basic aluminium sill that's used by default?


    The main difference in structural terms seems to be that the GRC oversill insulates the existing concrete sill whereas when using the alu sill, the existing concrete sill is cut back. I've been told that the alu sill can be noisy during heavy rain and I'm a little concerned about the longevity of powder coating - the GRC sill can be painted.

    Canät answer most of your questions, however for one: I have never noticed the sound of rain from my alu sills...

    One thing I notice however is that the alu sill is more gloss than the old concrete one. Dust and dirt becomes more noticeable in comparison to previous.
