    Hi everyone,
This is a question for any of the clay shooters out there. How do you personally go about choosing your brand of cartridge?
When i first took up the sport a couple months ago i started with Eley Olympic blues simply for the fact they were the cheapest and most availabe in my area, however after upgrading to a Beretta and experimenting with some different brands ive found Fiocchi TT one’s smoother firing and alot softer on the shoulder so was thinking of switching. Is simply finding the cartridge that feels the best a good idea?
    Thanks for any suggestions.

I was the same starting out just went for the cheaper brands bcos I just started fired the eley blues good cartridge but rough on the shoulder with recoil.I fire hull pro ones myself find them a very good and fast cartridge and also Bornaghi 71/4 28g but they are expensive and the latest one I have tried are eley Olympic gold and are a very good cartridge also. I find I need a fast cartridge that hits the target well and doesn’t leave my shoulder mangled after a few rounds and I normally look what guys are firing and try a box or two see how I go.I find if ur getting a decent cartridge u have to pay a few quid more then the cheaper ones on the market.

Whatever slab is cheaper at the time! Its not usually the cartridges fault when I miss :D

Tunnets had a lot of missfires tho!

I just buy the cheapest that's available, I never believe that any of my misses are due to the cartridge. Unless you're average 45+/50 I don't think there's a point buying expensive cartridges.

Cartridges are more of a mental thing. I know one lad that was fixated on expensive cartridges. One lad gave him two boxes of Caledonian, which we get for €50 a slab and he shot 49/50.

If you're really worried about recoil or are of a slighter build try 24g cartridges, they'll save your shoulder.

I fired Caledonian last weekend, and it was the best I shot in a long time!
    50 quid a slab too

What ever is the cheapest usually but some of the cheapest stuff can be so dirty I need to strip the semi auto after 100 or so shots, i never miss but some clays and birds are bullet proof😄

Express power blue or red. Basically because the irish dealer gives excellent prices on bulk buying.

Always Have 10 black gold 28g in 7.5 for the long shots when in a comp. Serious mule of a cartridge but il tend to stick to the power red/blue otherwise. Cheap and they pattern well and do a claimed 1500fps for the red and 1450 for the blue i think!

Depends how much you buy. 55 for the red 60 for the blue. But that price will drop the more you buy

I’m paying €199 / 1000 power reds. Won’t shoot anything else. Have been shooting with them now about 9 months and have saw my averages creep up. Shooting 40 to 45 every week in our 50 bird summer league
