What to look for in a power washer

Looking for a power washer. Want a fairly powerful one that will clear old dirt engrained on tractor, powerwash a house etc.

Bonus for one that has ability to change pressure (or maybe they all do that) so can wash car too.

There seems to be hondas which are expensive and then a massive jump down in HP from like...13 to 7.

What's most important...HP or flowrate or psi?

I got this one in Argos recently for power washing my house. It's great, so many features and includes a special lance attachment for washing cars, patios etc

Buy the Honda and you'll have it for life. 7hp Honda is better than an allegedly 13hp Chinese crap.

    Honda only supply the engine.
Make sure you get one with a Comet or Interpump.
They are the only 2 makes of descent pumps.
They will last for years with rebuild kits easily available.

How long do those other ones last?

I'd be willing to spend up to 800 or 900 for one. Where do you think the best value is?

I paid 800 pounds for mine a long time ago.
Rebuilt the pump last year for about 180.
Depends where you are based there is a guy on DD in portlaoise who is dealing for years
    Triace are down south
I think you will at least pay 1200 for a Honda engined pump.

We’ve a Honda here at work and it’s a savage washer.

The only way to reduce pressure is adjust the bypass valve and it wouldn’t be am exact science.

Really a washer for cleaning sheds etc isn’t going to be suitable for a car as it would be too easy to damage paintwork.

By house do you mean cattle sheds or dwelling house? A turbo nozzle with what ever you get for cow ****e and and regular flat for everything else just stand back if using it on paint. If more for machinery and that a hot washer may be better. If you have a tractor spare a pto one is best bet, would get one for 800 easy. Any decent one with an engine will prob be 1k plus

And what are the opinions on the power washers not Honda?

Hawk pumps are on a par with those two also.

I have a karcher 550 eco hot wash for washing the tractor , cars etc here . bought it new in 2010. used it to hot wash the hayshed roof and house before painting

I have a 4000psi hawk pto washer 1000 pto box, turbo nozzle and 100ft on a reel for sheds etc and some machinery. a weapon of tool.

Well folks. Thinking of going for a pto driven washer. Would want a fairly powerful one for cleaning stubborn **** on tractor, cleaning sheds, house, paths etc.

What pressure should I get? Any makes to avoid? Any other info I should know about pto washers?

As people have said Honda only make engines. Cat Pumps would definitely be the best (i.e. most expensive) pump out there.

I have a Cat 323 pump running on a brooks motor. It is a very old setup, I'd say in excess of 30 years. I had to spend a lot of money on it last year (belts, regulator etc), but the pump wasn't touched, and that says a lot.

Being electric you can switch it on and off easily and it encourages you to keep the machinery clean. I don't think it (or any single phase electric) washer has the power for cleaning sheds. A PTO one would be far better here.

I'd recommend talking to someone like Eurojet or some other reputable seller. I don't think they would put you too far wrong

I wouldn't agree with blasting the tractor with high pressure. use a good detergent if you want it really clean without destroying the paint.
Try to get a powerwasher with a wind up reel on it, it'well worth the bit extra cost
