    Hi,

Posting on behalf of a colleague who has bought a second hand frame and wheels (10 sp).

Looking for something like a 105 groupset or parts thereof, if anyone was looking to off load some old kit??

    Ideally in reasonably good nick.

    Thanks,

    G'co

On the mongrel groupset, I could probably swap the Tiagra chainset for a 105 5600 standard one (170mm) if preferred so it would be Ultegra/105 through. Send a PM if interested and I can think about price and sending pics

    Hi Weepsie,

Thanks for this - as mentioned it is for a colleague who is new to cycling. Given the detail you have added, I should have put a few more details myself.

He is quite tall, I was thinking that he should be going for 175 mm cranks, or 172.5 s at a push. Would need a compact crank though.

I will mention the kit that you have to see if he is interested, and drop you a pm thereafter,

    Cheers,

    G

Thanks for that - one question, is the Rival a compact crank?

hey, I have a groupset I just upgraded from which might be of interest...

mix of 105 & FSA, from memory all 105 except cranks & brake calipers which are FSA. 50/34 with 11-28 cassette. I'd have to double check that later though to confirm.

the cassette & chain are both only a couple of months old with maybe 400-500km on them. cranks are 175mm.

let me know if he's interested and I'll figure out a price on it.

Thanks for that - he is looking at a compact crank, but will mention to him.

    Would you consider splitting??

I could try get a compact of some sort but wouldnt be a new crankset.

I will split no problem. Not looking for much.

Id say 150 would cover it.

Or with the cranks id say 200

    Hi PWM,
Do you still have the sram force bits for sale? I sent you a PM. I'm interested if OP didn't take them. Thanks

Big thanks to Weepsie, Mr. S.and Political for responding to the cry for help.

Building up a bike for a newbie rider, who is going to end up with a v nice rig. In the end he went for the SRAM Force kit from PWM, which I picked up today on his behalf.

Nice to meet you PWM, and thanks for the additionals, happy to report that they made it to the attic without the cassette and Mrs. G'co was none the wiser.

    Thanks for coming to collect.

See you again on the road. Good luck with the new build. The Genesis are really nice

A genesis you say? If your neighbour doesn't take to it, let me know, Genesis and Sram is my type of combination!

The neighbour is getting a Kuota......the Genesis is mine, all mine I tell you.

It is a bike for life, so probably will sell in 2 years, will let you know....

    I have 2 already!

Interestingly I am planning on getting another also, going to replace the Equilibrium I sold a few years ago to buy a washing machine, really liked that bike, not so gone on the newer colour schemes.

Hope the Zanussi is enjoying it's service life as much!

Edit: I haven't read thread but if you are still short parts I should have 10sp parts

Thanks ford - should be good now, but will give you a shout if needs be.

Great pics, from where?? Presume the Genesis is still going strong??

The one with brown grass is about 500m from Greenway close to tunnel, the one with trees is a boreen somewhere between Golden and Cahir but west of N8.

Bike is perfect, have NOS 7800 fitted and still on hplus son wheelset with about 30k on them.

It did Paris Roubaix and gets hammered on back roads without issue.

Other than running tubeless(which is moot as I don't get punctures or have comfort issues ) I don't see what a new bike would add to my enjoyment of cycling.

The bike is a solved riddle once you tune out from the marketing nonsense!!

If you want anything it's free as I feel bad about washing machine now!!

Very funny, please don't, I love my washing machine!!

Looks like it is living the life it deserves. Kudos on Paris Roubaix.

I had 7800 many moons ago, lovely kit.

Totally agree on the marketing bit, but I cannot seem to turn off the gene that makes me want shiny stuff.
