Tesco Lucan - free EV charging

Was in the brand new Tesco Extra in Lucan (Liffey Valley) today and I was pleasantly surprised they had two 7.2kW free to use chargers installed (and cleverly allocated 3 EV parking spaces for it)

A DC charger would have been nicer, but I'm not complaining. The Tesco carpark is covered, it is free, and right in the middle between LV proper, B&Q and the retail park with Currys, etc. I won't bother plugging in for a 30 minute Tesco grocery shop, but if I have to be in LV for several hours anyway and the car is getting empty, then why not!

VW and Tesco teaming up to rollout SCP's and FCP's in the UK.

No chance they will do it here I suppose!

Not sure what their policy is regarding length of time you can park in any EV space but for normal (Non EV Parking) the last time I shopped there, it was a 2 Hour Max Time frame you had to get back to your car before it risked being clamped.

That Tesco didn't want anyone parking there who wasn't just doing their shopping in the Tesco & then leaving. They didn't seem to want anyone staying there in any extended fashion - eg doing their shopping in Tesco & then heading into the main Liffey Valley Center (or Parking there, going to main Liffey Valley Center & then coming back to do their shopping in Tesco).

I complained to their Customer Services to say that in Tesco Maynooth & Tesco Celbridge there was a 3 hour Time frame permitted for parking as opposed to their 2 hours.

I'm presuming the 2 hour parking time frame doesn't apply to someone parked in an EV Space charging but just wanted to mention it here in case any issue arose..

Hmm... There was a red 2016 Leaf plugged in for around 10 days at Tesco Maynooth. Didn't go down well with some people, but Tesco did nothing about it.

Also (directed at the OP) Tesco "Lucan" is at the back of Esker. The one in Liffey Valley is Clondalkin. I know there has been a bit of gerrymandering of addresses as a result of brown envelopes, but the one in Liffey Valley is most definitely not Lucan.

Tell me about it. My own house (in Lucan, Co. Dublin) would have been in Clondalkin, Dublin 22 and about 20% cheaper if it hadn't been for that scumbag "Mr Big" Liam Lawlor

His family is just after bagging many, many millions from selling land that was bought with corrupt money

A spokesperson said Tesco Ireland will be keeping the UK rollout "under review" before deciding to expand its Irish network.

Yeah, I remember that. I used to pass his house on my way to work and noticed he seemed to have been having a lot of *cough* BBQs at 8am around the time the net was closing in. I've been living in Leixlip since before a lot of the "new Lucan" was built. For me Lucan is north of the N4. The bit south, where the FCP is, is Esker.

He might still be enjoying extremely hot BBQs in the afterlife :pac:
