    Hi folks,

Looking at building polytunnel kind of greenhouse.

Trying to get my hands on some kind of pipe to make arches for the frame, needs to be about 5-6m in lenght 30-50mm width, sturdy but also bend well at the same time. There are specialists who are making these pipes specifically for greenhouses, but could not find any in Ireland.

Any advice, alternatives, have somebody used similar techniques if so what pipes have you used and where have you got them ? !

    Thanks!

I presume you’ve looked at the 2imch hydrodare plans that are easily available via google.

    Lots of examples online.

I think once you go down the route of steel tubes you will be at the same cost as purchasing from a regular supplier.

Where are you based? if your anywhere near dungarvan or waterford area, ive moved into a new house and theres 2 poly tunnels.
They were a DIY job, theres nothing wrong with the pipes, only thing that didnt budge in the 2 storms we had!

Free to a good home before it goes into a skip in a few weeks.

Thanks, That post is great gave me some great insight what pipes I might use, something seems like conduit pipe or esb ducting might as well do the job. I'll have to check builder merchants to see how do they look in reality.

    Thanks again

Checked the hydrodare pipes, they would be similar, but the price tag is really high 50mm - 1m works out at just over 3.5e per meter of which I need about 150m

Lets keep our eyes open, and I might find something else to use!

    Thanks for advice!

That's over 500 euro...for the same money you could get a complete 3 x 4 m greenhouse with double polycarbonate walls instead of plastic foil

I have one of these and am happy with it.
