I understand Japan is not exactly close by, but can we have just one thread devoted to JRA?

There's lots to discuss. Like its state status and the interesting rules when only the JRA can manage legal betting on its races, and a slice goes towards racing needs (as I understand this is the JRA's principal source of income). I wonder if this means it's basically impossible to bet on a JRA race from here, unless one has enough Japanese to do it online on a Japanese site?

And like its bloodline situation, with Sunday Silence becoming "an invasive species" and his line, plus that of King Kamehameha, covering nearly every Thoroughbred horse in the country. Looks like a tough time for breeders.

Japan Derby ran today (Sunday). Results: https://umanity.jp/en/racedata/race_21.php?code=2018052705021210 . I'm told the big congratulation here goes to the jockey, Yuichi Fukunaga, who rode in that Derby 19 times in the last 20 years (first time was in 1998, on King Halo), and finally won it.

I am new to this, through an anime fandom. So I just learned what I learned from a couple of experts on an anime discord. I wonder if anyone here actually knows stuff about the JRA and its races.
