"The State shall, therefore, endeavor to ensure that mothers shall not be obliged by economic necessity to engage in labour to the neglect of their duties in the home"

National Women’s Council of Ireland wants Article 41.2 removed due to the above wording. I was under the impression that any woman who stays at home is proud to raise her children and keep her home to a high standard for her own reason not because so city said so. This obviously applies to all women with a home and kids not just stay at home moms and in a lot of cases men also.

Are we still in an era where men worked and fought in wars and women stayed at home. We seem to have a big surge of man hating, from banning fathers day to wanting us all dead.

I work with women, my best friend is a woman. I don't get it and either does she??

Bit of a silly section of the constitution. I wonder if I could sue the state for my wife working?

You got Women want men dead from that? What's wrong with you? The article in the constitution re women in the home appears to be archaic.

Pretty sure I don't want men dead or fathers day banned. Don't know any women who do. I think the text in the constitution is redundant, plenty of wonderful men raising kids and doing a great job, their input should be equally valued should it not?

Change "mothers" to "parents" and we can all stay at home.

I would be glad to see another referendum. On 1. blasphemy and 2. women in the home. I would be voting to remove both from the constitution.

Indeed. This thread went full weird from the get go so...

Rejoice in the awareness of feeling stupid, for that’s how you end up learning new things. If you’re not aware you’re stupid, you probably are.
