Where is the irritating noise coming from - Dublin South.

I live in Dublin 14 and there has been a continuous noise during daylight hours that sounds like 100 motor bikes reving up or heavy duty tree cutting. Looked for a motor cycle meet by nothing showed. I thought it was a large plot near me that was been cleared but all was quiet when I passed it yesterday. Just back from Ballyogan and I heard it there too which confirmed it was no local. I know sounds carry on the wind so it could be anywhere. Hoping I'm not going mad .. anyone know out where it's coming from ?

Big thunderstorm off the coast. Maybe that's it?

Could the wind be carrying the sound of this?

It's a drifting rally down at Dun Laoghaire harbour.

I remember hearing strange sounds coming from within our house, and I could not for the life of me determine where the hell it was coming from, kept thinking it was coming from the fridge, but when I went down stairs to the kitchen to listen more carefully z it seemed like it was coming from upstairs, and so the circle continued.

Was lying in bed in my parents house one morning a few days later, and low and behold, could hear the exact same sound in their house.

    Turned out I had tinnitus.

Might be something to consider OP.

I was wondering the same thing. Heard it yesterday in Clonskeagh. Sounded very much like motorcycle racing or rallying

Is it John waters? Was he down in montrose yesterday?

Maybe he's still on a bench down there grumbling.

in the movie Damo and Ivor they had a scene with a race down at the harbour, i thought it was just a movie setup, is it actually a thing?

Hearing it today again as I look out our roof window. Surely somebody knows what's going on? Ah just read previous posts. That explains it!

Thanks for the heads up everyone - think it must be Dun Laoire - pity the ones who live nearer it ! Delighted now to know that no forest is being denuded.

Re the tinnitus 'johnny Dog' something similar happened to my mother a few years back. She was sure the students who lived next door were deliberately turning on a boom box at night just to taunt her. She lost days of sleep with stress and worry. I was on the verge of sorting them out when I offered to sleep in the house and catch them at it. Long story short, there was no boom box, she was hearing her own heart beat due to the stress of the raised blood pressure!

When I saw the thread title I thought it was in relation to the horrendous south side accent.
