Reducing draughts under skirting

I am making efforts to reduce draughts and heat loss in a relative new house. The house is a ‘plasterboard tent’. I read a lot about the draught problems online in this type of house and I have been checking the bottom of the plasterboard for draughts. Mostly they were sealed by the builders with silicon but in a few out of the way places there is a gap under the plaster board connecting to the cold attic. I thought the best way to seal this is airtightness tape under the skirting but the skirting is nailed on and I risk making the nail gaps worse by pulling off the skirting. Would pollyfiler or silicon be an adequate solution? Or else I could tape over the plaster board? That doesn’t look great but can you skim over it? These problem areas are n out of the way places like under the stairs so I want to do what ever it takes to totally airtight it even if it doesn’t look beautiful.
