Electricity Disconnected in Newly Purchased Property

Apologies if this has been answered elsewhere in the forum.

I've recently purchased a property and closure of sale is due to happen next week. The property was vacant for a number of months and the electricity, and I'm assuming the gas, was disconnected. To get them reconnected, am I able to use any service provider or should I contact the old providers? I haven't given much thought to what company I'll use, but would the reconnections be slower if I were to use a new provider?

Also, will the reconnection fee be mine to bear?

    Thanks.

Tales more or less the ame time no matter who the previous supplier was.

If there are prepaid meters it might be a little more complicated. But that is probably not the case.

If it’s being disconnected for 6 months you need to get the wiring. Certified
